# Using VCam with Discord

Discord is a communication platform designed for gamers but widely used for various communities, offering voice, video, and text chat.

### Selecting VCam.ai as your camera in Discord

|| **The instructions below are for the [Discord desktop app](https://discord.com/download).** We recommend using this version if you plan to use VCam.ai. Setup for the browser-based Discord will differ on the browser you’re using and will require additional changes to your settings and/or security permissions.

1. On _Discord_, click the **gear icon** beside your username to open the settings menu.

2. Under _APP SETTINGS_ then select **Voice and Video**.

3. Scroll down to _VIDEO SETTINGS_, then select **VCam.ai Camera** from the _CAMERA_ drop-down menu.
